homecoming happiness

It’s homecoming weekend at JMU, y’all—one of my favorite holidays! I thought I’d kick off this oh-so fabulous weekend by highlighting happy homecoming ditties like:

Jack Brown's, the only place to get your deep-fried (gluten-filled) oreo for only $1, all the while waiting patiently on your Jalapeno Popper. What is a Jalapeno Popper you ask? Why, it’s a burger with philly cream cheese and pickled jalapenos of course!

Reuniting with  these gals again. They were the best things ever to happen to me in college. I’ve never in my life acted so immaturely and laughed so hard about it. And in case you were wondering, that is me singing “Shadowfeet." Take a listen to that song and to the others—I am just so so proud of this group, and I can’t wait to tackle-hug every single one of them.

Dave's Taverna, where you’ll experience the crappiest, snottiest, most entitled servers you’ve ever had in your life, but you’ll get a plate of fries with ranch dressing for, like, $2 and a pitcher for $3. It’s worth the humiliation, people.

Eating chili and hugging and laughing with and playing cornhole with the fun people that you haven’t seen since last homecoming

Singing/screaming the fight song as loudly as humanly possible in a huge mob of purple and gold.

Crashing at my sweet sister’s house, a fellow Duke, and celebrating all of the JMU goodness with her and her housemates!

My fellow JMU-ers, what do you love most about homecoming??

  1. Kline's (even though it's supposed to be 58 degrees tomorrow)! And TJ Maxx—the one in the 'burg is way better than the one in Charlottesville.

  2. wait... OMG... your voice is amazing Brett. Holy cow.

  3. Your voice is so lovely. Have a great weekend at JMU!

  4. i honestly just love the whole feeling of being back there. absolutely can.not. wait to get up there in the morning..oh and i looove singing the fight song and the alma mater right before the game!
hope you have a great homecoming weekend...sounds like you have fun plans!

  5. Of course you sang Shadowfeet. Of course you did. Just like Brooke herself. No sweat. Just your average day.
