things i love about marriage

1) waking up in the middle of the night, intertwined with one another--N's foot here, my arm there..it's a maze of slumber. we wake up if we hit each other, which is often, and the conversation goes as follows:
::punch in the face::
"ow!"
"...sorry"
"...it's ok"
"love you"
"love you"
::snooze::

2) the language that we have:

noops: what we call the bunny's poops-a mix of bananas and poop.

foo foo: coffee creamer or lip gloss (i.e. "I can't kiss you--you have foo foo on")

mans: our most common pet name for one another

heebee: our most common excited greeting for one another. also heard as "heeeeeee!"

moodies: watching Netflix

the list goes on. i'm sure every married couple has a language. if you live with a person, you just develop weird things like this, no?

3) the way N. prays for us, randomly and often, out loud. in the middle of dinner, when i'm brushing my teeth, whenever. if he feels like it, he prays. i love that. i LOVE that.

4) making up songs. for anything, everything.

5) the safety in knowing that someone loves you and you, them. and knowing that someone knows you well. they know how to get you out of a conversation that you don't want to be in. they know how you take your coffee. they know that you always want more rice than chicken. that you always order water and never soda. that you need a few minutes to lay in bed before you get up. that the way to your heart is to sit at barnes and noble together and read magazines. i know that he will read the surfing ones. he knows that i will read the fashion ones. it is good to be known well.

6) well.....you know.

7) spending time together, without needing to speak. i'm reading a book, he's watching one of Matrixes (Matrices?). and we're holding hands on the sofa. i lean my head on his shoulder and he kisses my hair-- every single time.

8) fighting.  yeah, i said it.

9) the little things. how N. styles his hair. how N. eats everything i make, and has seconds. how he parallel parks with such ease. how N. plays his piano and it floats throughout our house, how he hums everything, all the time.

10) when I talk about my dreams, he listens. he gets excited for me when i get an idea about something to write. when i talk about what God is doing in my life, he looks at me, in the eyes.
